I am a University of Toronto student who is double-majoring in Art and Art History & Communication, Culture, and Information Technology. (I might change that to a Major and 2 minors lol)
AND...
I am offended by the people who says they attended the same school and double majored even though they did not.
Watch it, it's important. A very smart video. I'm not sure who that girl is or who had the idea of making this video. If you know please comment on this post.
I'm concered. I try not to be, but I can't help it. It's still part of me, even for a short while. I don't want to give up. Naniniwala ako na may pag-asa pa.
I am no longer a self-proclaimed designer. I have been hired! (Woo! God is awesome!)
I am doing a free-lance web design job for a industrial design student in OCAD, Toronto. Now I need for heaven to pour out an overwhelming amount of inspiration, motivation, and creativity to flood Ashrow Crescent. (My "studio")
I am very excited! (Can't you tell?) I have been waiting for something like this!
So I woke up super early today and I can't go back to sleep.
I went on the Apple (Canadian) Online Store and browsed what's good. I was playing around with the possible configurations of the computers and was amused by the fast increase of the numbers right after the dollar sign. I went on the MacPro (at the same time dreaming I was about to buy it) configuration page and man, that thing can be so powerful. When they named it MacPro they weren't kidding! (Hella expensive though, could pass as MacProRich.) These babies are for the Super Pros (x 5 billion). There's 2 slots for processors, 4 bays for hard drives, and 8 for memory. Why would you need so much?! Bragging rights? I so would if I was that rich.
32 whopping GB of RAM. I can't imagine using that much memory. I could play probably 134 Talisman Online accounts at the same time and make the server lag - that's more than enough characters to fill up a guild twice. Haha! Check out the mula shredding. These are all in CAD already.
We use MacPros at school and I never really realized the power I had when I touched the keyboard and the mouse. DUN DUN DUN. They're probably not the high end MacPros but still! They upgrade them every year so it'll get there one day. Aw, I miss school... or the computers in school.
So I was on the phone with Reggie yesterday. He asked me what I'm taking in school. "I'm taking Fine Arts." It's not something that's easy to say because I always feel like I have to explain myself. People usually give me the how-are-you-going-to-make-money reaction. Then he said, "Oh, want to get money right away eh?"
I kinda wish I got into something that'll give a stable and wealthy status, but I went to a prestegious school just so I can be a starving artist. Great. I was watching an interview by Tony Hsieh (Zappos CEO) and he said, "Do what you love and the money will come." I quite hope so. I guess not everything in life is like Mr. Noodles. Then again, I'd rather get sushi than Mr. Noodles. =)
Reggie was the first one who reacted like that so I was a little surprised. I asked him, "WHAT? HOW?" Then he said, "Well Finance is all about money."
"It's Fine ARTS! Not Finance!"
Then he gave me the how-are-you-going-to-make-money reaction... Haha, no change there.
One thing that peeves me is when people spit out the word "humble"
without even knowing what it means. Humbleness is not given by anyone
or anything, it's a quality practiced. Humility is not doing the
right thing but the understanding that it's not about you or what
you've done. I loved the message yesterday and it's such a great reminder of what it really means:
Not everyone is made the same. This is true to couples. They may be interested in the same things, talk the same way, etc, etc but they will never agree on everything all the time. So when you get into fights, do not blame it on him/her fully. If you're not willing to admit that you conributed to the problem or even BE the problem, then you don't have the humility that is required in building a happy home.
(I couldn't quote since I don't have a recorded copy, but that's what I got from it)
Honestly, I'm not exactly the best example when it comes to being humble. I have this great appreciation when someone apologizes to me but it's such a hard task to say it back. Everyone's got their wall of pride, and I'm a little embarassed to admit that mine's pretty high. Which is why I'm not surprised to know that many people are not comfortable telling me off. It's true that no one is perfect, but that's no excuse. I have been trying to stop projecting my fault to other nouns and it's still not easy to say sorry. But it isn't so bad. It actually lessens the yelling, the heavy chest pains, and headaches. Healthy! It's such a great reminder of how healthy relationships are like, whether it be with families, friends or that special someone.
So you may have noticed (but probably not) that I haven't posted up anything "cool" that found on the internet lately. Well, I've decided that I'll separate my personal blog and my design blog. As you can tell (if not, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you're handicapped) this will be my personal blog. Yeah, who really would be interested in my life. *poses like a star* As much as I love Tabulas, the design blog will probably not be here.
Now I need a cool catchy online user name other than "deeflores" before I start anything. It could be just total randomness, it could be a little personal (if you know me well enough), it could be fun, or serious, whatever! I just need good ideas. So far, I have some ideas on how it could go.
FlipCake. That one's a little personal. Flip for filipino, cake for.. Keik/o. Get it? Why Keiko? Hmm... I was in Grade 4 at that time and I had this deep desire towards a cartoon character. It took over my life for quite a bit of my childhood... okay, maybe I'll stop there.
dFlo. This one's old and a bit unoriginal. It's my version of J'Lo. Mine sounds better, eh? Haha! I keed.
Ok, honestly I haven't gone past that. There were so crazy ideas like... FiveHead (because I have a big forehead) but I'm going to sound like a freak show. Well anyone who has suggestions are free to make them. As long as it's clean and non freak-show like.
Pao came over for dinner 2 nights ago. He brought pizza for the family which was great because for some reason we were all craving for pizza. Yum! We watched "Breaking Bad" episodes in the living room and I think I got him hooked. What's funny was he helped with taking the garbage. We were all so grateful, especially my mom. My dad usually does the garbage stuff but since he's not around (and we kinda were not listening when he was explaining to us how the color coding of the garbage cans work) we didn't know what to do. Hanie had to Google it. I know... it's so sad.
Thank you, love! You are definitely welcome to help us do the garbage every Monday night... I mean, come over for dinner! Haha. I kid.
